About Us
Welcome to Fine Job Fly Fishing Co.
A welcome letter from our co-founder, Lupe Phillips.
If there's one thing I've learned through the years, it's that some of life's greatest moments are found standing in a river with a fly rod in your hand, listening to the sound of flowing water and taking in the incredible beauty that surrounds us.
I've been fortunate to fly fish many rivers throughout Oregon, but the McKenzie River has captured my heart. Its crystal-clear water, native redside rainbow trout, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery make it a place unlike any other. Every visit reminds me why it's so important to protect and preserve this incredible river for future generations.
Fine Job Fly Fishing Co. was born from that passion. My hope is to inspire others to discover the beauty of fly fishing, respect our rivers, and become good stewards of the outdoors. Whether you're an experienced angler or picking up a fly rod for the first time, I hope you'll find encouragement, friendship, and a deeper appreciation for nature here.
I'm grateful to share this journey with my business partner and friend, Sean Costil, whose passion for fly fishing, conservation, and helping others matches my own. From the beginning, he believed in this vision and has worked very hard to help bring Fine Job Fly Fishing Co. to life. His creativity, dedication, and commitment have helped shape what we're building together, and I'm thankful to have him alongside me on this journey.
One of the ways we'll share that vision is through Finn, our native redside rainbow trout mascot. Finn is more than a character—he's the voice of the McKenzie River.
Through his stories and adventures, he'll remind us to care for our rivers, respect wildlife, lend a helping hand, and never lose our sense of wonder. Finn represents the values we want Fine Job Fly Fishing Co. to stand for: conservation, friendship, mentorship, kindness, and a love for the outdoors.
I also want to dedicate this journey to my closest friend, John Toman. He introduced me to fly fishing and shared a genuine love for Oregon's rivers and lakes. His passion, kindness, and appreciation for the outdoors helped shape my own love for this sport. Every time I step into a river, I carry a part of that friendship with me.
I'm incredibly grateful for my love, Miki, and our two dogs, Jasper and Duke. They remind me that the best adventures in life are the ones we share with those we love.
Outside of fly fishing, I enjoy working with the public, helping others, and mentoring whenever I have the opportunity. Those values are woven into Fine Job Fly Fishing Co. This isn't just about catching fish—it's about building friendships, sharing knowledge, caring for our rivers, and leaving every place a little better than we found it.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Fine Job Fly Fishing Co. We hope our journey—and Finn's stories—inspire you to get outside, explore Oregon's beautiful waters, and experience the peace, adventure, and joy that fly fishing has brought into our lives.
We look forward to seeing you on the beautiful McKenzie River.
